Turning over a new leaf!

Man am I ready for this year to be over! It seems like I have been on a dead run but just treading water! The past three months have been a bummer. I have attended too many funerals and just found out today that someone else had passed away. Okay enough depressing stuff!

Obviously, I have been too distracted with other things (facebook) to stay caught up with my blog. So I am attempting to turn over a new leaf! The first card is a card I made for a contest at Stampin' Cat Studio . I didn't win but it was a fun challenge.

I made very few Christmas cards because I spent a lot of time making my Phyllis' Phamous Shortbread Cookies which I posted about last year.

Here is thank you card I made today for my friend Denise. I think I violated the uneven rule, but I like it! Not sure what is up with the pink tinge!

Here's wishing everyone a Happy New Year! It has to be better than this!

Birthday Card

My boss wants to give birthday cards to all of the employees at work. Four of us from work, the boss's wife and Denise have been getting together once a month to make birthday cards. Here is my latest creation. I used SEI Poppy paper and added a ribbon, 2 circles with a sentiment and a round window charm to make the sentiment pop!

Thank you card

My friend Denise at Paper Ponderings gave me stamp pads of the SU in colors and reinkers (or rinkers as I call them). Here is the thank you card I made her.

I used soft suede cardstock and used my Cuttlebug folder Birds and Swirls on a piece of blue bayou. I inked the debossed side with soft suede. I used the Sizzix die birds and branches to cut out the branch and the bird stamp is an impress rubberstamp. I liked how this one turned out and it totally looks like something Denise would make! Thanks for the inspiration D!

More news and Happy Fall Ya'll

Happy Fall y'all! I am trying to catch up my posts! It seems like summer has flown by and lots of stuff going on! I will be having cataract surgery on Sept. 21. So if you are the praying kind, I appreciate all the prayers I can get! Thank you in advance!

I went to an orthopedic surgeon because I was diagnosed with a cyst on my tendon in my hand, which can be annoying when you are trying to create cards (or do anything!). I found out that I have "trigger finger" so I had a shot of steroids into my hand. I have been waiting for my hand to get buff LOL but the shot did help a lot.

This week I will be going to Eugene to attend a conference for work. I am on a committee that I am told "I will work my butt off!" Hoping that even a little true, 'cause I can use it!

My First ATC

I made my first ATC for a contest. I really liked how it turned out even though I did not win the contest! I found the SU grape set at a garage sale right before I picked up the blank ATC for the contest!
Sorry about the blurriness! I bought a light box but don't have it set up yet!

50th Anniversary

I finished this card moments ago. It is a 50th anniversary card for my husband's oldest brother. The celebration is in four hours! I made Becca Fecken's medallion from this card. I had to mess with the lighting to show the glitter cardstock I used from the DCWV La Creme stack. I also used five different Spellbinders dies and the Martha Stewart border punch, wedding arches.

I am off to get ready, it is a beautiful sunny day here in Oregon!

June is gone!

June has flown by and so has the days to make cards. It is harder when you work full time, have to work some evenings and have been in school for a week. I did manage to squeeze out a couple of cards. This is one and the other was for a card contest. I will publish it when the contest closes!
I bought some new paper at Stampin' Cat Studio. It is a fiberous and floppy paper and doesn't want to punch easily. I couldn't resist making flowers out of the flower paper. The end result was not what I was shooting for but I like it!
Supplies used:
Spellbinders Nested flowers
Cuttlebug Hippie Chick alphabet/small flower
Creative Expressions flower brad
Queen & Co. felt leaves
unknown dp beige and red
DCWV Orange cardstock
SU Chocolate Chip ink (used on the flowers)

When your husband says "I need a card tomorrow"!

This is what happened when my husband said "I need a card for tomorrow." Thanks honey. The card was for one of the other guys in the band he is in -- Diamondback. The picture looks fine before I upload it but gets mushy after that! The banner says "Rock and Roll" and the inside says "Happy Birthday! Hope it's a blast!" (My husband didn't understand the guitar was blasting through the wall.)

Supplies used:
Hampton Arts stamp Rock Star--1
Inkadinkadoo stamp Rock Star
EK Success Blue Navy Crackle Paper
heart brads, unknown
red and black embossing powder
brown watercolor pencil
Tim Holtz sanding block to grunge it out

This is my Becca Fekan, of Amazing Paper Grace, inspired card. I love how it turned out! It is a wedding card for someone I have known since she was 3. She really can't be old enough to get married, I am not any older! LOL
If you click on Becca's link you can see how the medallion was created. I thought it would be a real pain but it went together pretty easy.

Graduations

I stayed up very late (or early) until 3:00 a.m. because I finally got in gear to make the 7 graduation cards I needed to make! I have CASEd my own graduation card from the last two years and threw in a couple of new twists that I really like! I do my best to match the school colors on the invitations I receive. Here are my standard cards without any twists using Olivia Cuttlebug font.

I got a little more creative on the girlie cards with a little bling for the button on the top of the motar board and Hippy Chick Cuttlebug font.

Then for my dear friend who is graduating from the University this June, I created his card using a sheet of graduation paper I picked up at Michael's yesterday!

Supplies:

red unknown
black Bazzill Deep Black
lavendar embossed hearts Making Memories

unknown card stock
DCWV striped DP
Swirls Cuttlebug Embossing folder
2 sizes of scalloped circle Nesties
computer generated greeting Adorable font (I think!)

Rubbernecker Birthday Card

My boss's birthday is Thursday so I made him a card. I love the classic cars from Rubbernecker! I even went online to check out "authentic" car colors! I made the card green and white because they are the official colors of the university he attended. Hope your Monday is especially blessed!

Nesties Bird card

I have been sitting on this card so long and forgot to post it! Pun intended! I love how it turned out. I used my Nesties bird die and a paisley die for her wing. I also tried out my some of my crackle paint and new embossing powder that looks like sand.

Some Fun Cards

What you have just witnessed is an attempt to clear out my stash once again! These cards all have one thing in common--jelly sentiments by Making Memories. Since they came in lime green and black I decided to create an assortment of cards. I think they turned out kind of fun. Not sure who I would send the "get over it" to! LOL

Finally! Some New Cards!

I feel like this year is flying by and I am running behind it waving my arms in the air saying "Wait! Wait! I need more time!" I finally made cards with two products I have had in my stash way too long! I am happy with the results-- not the photography but the cards!

I finally used my outline stickers and metal mesh from Amaco! The flowers and leaves are the outline stickers.

Card on the left products used:

Die Cuts With a View black cardstock and shiny green
Nesties Labels 1
2 1/2 gold ribbon
Inkadinkado sentiment
American Crafts copper brads
black embossing powder

Card on the right:
same DCWV papers plus metallic copper
Inkadinkado sentiment
My Minds Eye frame stamp
silver embossing powder

Birthday Card!

Here is a birthday card I made for my Paper Ponderings friend Denise! It is her birthday today! I used the cocoa cup template from Fairyblossoms. It took me forever to figure out what I wanted to do with this card. I was just happy I had it done for her birthday!

My recipe for the card is: Stampin' Up Pink Piroutte Paper, Fiskars Threading Water border punch, Spellbinders Oval nesties, HOTP Sweet Blossoms and Swirls stamps, Prismacolor pencils, gold and clear embossing power (no name).

I Have Been Challenged!

Denise at Paper Ponderings has challenged me and Deb at In His Grip to post the sixth picture in our sixth folder in My Pictures and tell the story behind it! The picture below is Denise herself along with a friend of ours, Morrine. They are sitting in front of the Roadhouse before we went in for luch to celebrate Morrine's birthday. Picture number 5 on the right is Denise, Parked along a street in Salem doing a dance to embarrass Morrine into deciding where to go for lunch for her birthday! I finally made the decision to go to the Roadhouse. Morrine was hilarious because she didn't want to throw the peanut shells on the floor, which is a tradition at the Roadhouse!

Birds!

Here are two cards I made with the Spellbinders Nested Bird Shapabilities! I couldn't decided what I really wanted so I ended up with two different cards!

I also used Spellbinders Bugs for the branch, Brenda Walton's dogwood punch for the flower and all the paper is DCWV except for the brown which is recycled from something else. I sanded all of the DCWV card stock and I really like the results!

Time to talk about the ...and more!

When I titled my blog paper stuff ...and more I was really referring to brads, ribbon, eyelets, punches, and all of the other items I hoard really well! But, one of my other passions is cooking, especially desserts. Not the best thing for a diabetic! Today's picture is of "Phyllis's Phamous Scottish Shortbread Cookies"! I have made these for years and it is a recipe from my SIL who is from Scotland. My friend Denise's youngest son's birthday was today. He had told his mom he wanted a big bunch of my cookies, so that is part of what he received for his birthday. The picture is the gallon bag of cookies sitting in his lap because he did not want his picture taken! It is great to be needed!

Thank You Card!

My friend Denise challenged me to create something with goodies she gave me for Christmas! So I made her a Thank you card using my new Tim Holtz paint daubers and my new Fiskars border punch! I also used a Cuttlebug die for the flowers that was seriously underused. I loved the way it turned out!

CASED Card

Here is a card that I cased from this card done by Pink Lemonade! Thanks for the inspiration Keri! I love your work!

I was so excited because I used four different Spellbinders dies to create the card!

Time to Get with the Program!

It has been over a month since I posted! Time flies! I am going retro and posting a few of my Christmas cards. Because of crunch time for the craft fair (my own fault, of course) I took the easy way out and created most of my cards use various Cuttlebug embossing folders. They were easy and challenging to not do a whole lot. So here they are!
